Nate and and Kelsey are wonderful people that I happen to love like family, because they are family. Kelsey is my cousin. We go way back.
These mountain kids met at a party when they lived in Denver a few years ago. Nate is a super romantic guy with a great sense of humor and fantastic comedic timing so all it took was a text, "Hey, I just met you and this is crazy... here's my number, call me maybe?"
Thanks to Carly Rae, Kelsey called and the rest is, as you say... history.
Fast forward to this summer. We planned a group camping trip along the Mountain Loop Highway. Nate and I had discussed his plan to propose ahead of time so I was ready and I kept it under my hat. The weather was not awesome, it rained. A lot. BUT finally, the rain stopped for about an hour on a Saturday afternoon and we all took a walk out to the Big Four Ice Caves. This was the moment!
Nate picked a beautiful location, got down on one knee and knocked the socks off his lovely lady. Kelsey had no idea! Cheers to all! Romance is not dead! Then, right on time, the skies opened up and the rain came pouring down. We were all soaked. We headed back to camp to celebrate with some champagne and coconut cream pie before we had to pack it in and head home. It was a perfect afternoon.
To all you future grooms out there, take note! Arranging for a photographer to capture your engagement is a great way to make sure you can share, celebrate and relive a beautiful and momentous moment! If you ask nicely, I might even bring the champagne!
Congrats again you guys! I can't wait to celebrate with you next year!
